QUEENSLANDERS will be treated to a public holiday on June 11 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Premier Campbell Newman is asking Queenslanders to fill their day off with a party, whether it be a high tea, street party or outdoor picnic.

"This is the perfect opportunity for people across the state to hold their own parties to celebrate and commemorate this special event," he said.

The best party organisers will go in the running to win a trip for four to London if the register their Big Jubilee Party at www.diamondjubilee.qld.gov.au.

The public holiday will be a one off.
