New equipment a boon to private hospital

GYMPIE Private Hospital announced last week it has purchased an Arthrex Synergy HD3 Imaging System.

The state-of-the-art machine means that surgeons will have enhanced observation capabilities when undertaking keyhole surgery.

The operating equipment also allows the surgeon to easily capture images during surgical procedures.

The new equipment streamlines three components into a central console unit meaning the theatre is less encumbered.

General Manager Helen Chalmers said the acquisition makes for exciting times at the hospital.

"This latest theatre equipment allows the hospital to provide a greater range of services to more people requiring surgery, and importantly, for them to be treated locally - something we find is a great comfort to them and their families," she said.

"It also means a boost for the local economy as these patients and their families do not need to leave the area for their medical needs."

Gympie Private currently performs more than 2500 operations a year, covering everything from cosmetic to general procedures including specialist dental and optical surgeries.

The hospital also acquired the services of a new specialist last month.

Dr Sajid Malek is a gynaecologist and has already started consulting out of the hospital.

"We are also delighted to be able to secure the professional services of Dr Malek. This allows us to expand on the medical and specialist services we already offer," Ms Chalmers said.
