Never mind Bundy, not everyone can be Gympie

CONGRATULATIONS Gympie!

Per capita, you are the fittest region out of all 14 regions that competed in our Kick the Kilos campaign over spring, racking up the highest number of kilometres walked over 12 weeks.

From Mackay in the north, to Toowoomba, Ipswich, the Sunshine Coast, Northern Rivers, Clarence Valley and all places in between, Gympie residents got up off the coach, kicked some kilos and kicked some butt in the process.

You easily out-performed every region that shares a boundary with us: the South Burnett, Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast, notching up a final tally of more than 11,300km or 233m per person. Our nearest rivals, Bundy, could only manage 161m per person.

Never mind, Bundy. Better luck next time.

Some star local participants who signed on to our strava app and recorded their kilometres each week walked or ran hundreds of kilometres and shed plenty of weight.

They built the region a great tally, gave us bragging rights over our neighbours, and gained a new lease on life in the process. Thank you, you are all champions.
