FOUNDATION chairman Lyall Gorman is building a new A-League team in western Sydney.
He would love to cement a couple of Socceroos into contracts with his still unnamed club.
One of those is Socceroos captain Lucas Neill who has been told by the Al Jazira club in the United Arab Emirates that he is free to go once his contract ends on June 30.
Gorman said he planned to make Neill "an offer he couldn't refuse", although he admitted he hadn't discussed the matter with Neill's management or new coach Tony Popovic.
"There wouldn't be a club official in the A-League who wouldn't be interested in securing Lucas's services should he decide the time was right for him to come home," Gorman told the Australian.
The same situation applies to Scott Chipperfield who has expressed interest in playing out his career in the A-League after more than 10 years playing in Switzerland.
"Lucas Neill and Scott Chipperfield are just the sort of building blocks we are looking to put in place over the next few weeks and months in building towards a solid foundation at west Sydney," Gorman said.
