James Nash athlete extraordinaire
SHAUN Lee is establishing his reputation as a record-breaking athlete at James Nash High.
Shaun is in year 8 and has recently won the 13 years age championship for athletics at James Nash's Athletics Carnival.
In the process, Shaun broke three school records: 1500m, 800m and 400m.
The 800m had been held by teacher and former student Torren Brennen for 26 years.
Shaun won first place in 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3km and 1500m walk.
“I try to do well, and I'm aware of age champion competitions, and hope I'll win them but that's not the main thing.” Shaun said.
Although he is primarily a runner, Shaun was placed second in discus and competed in long jump, high jump, triple jump and javelin. Shaun's success on the athletics track follows up his first place at James Nash's cross country race and his age championship at the swimming carnival back in February.
Not surprisingly, Shaun's hobbies include running and training with teacher Keith Brown's athletics squad three times a week. Like any good all-rounder, Shaun likes school with maths and science being his favourite subjects.
