Named: the new acts to watch

KEEP an ear out for these upcoming Australian artists who are set to blow your mind over the next 12 months.

ABC radio station triple j has announced this year's Next Crop - 20 Aussie Acts to watch in 2012.

Last year's Next Crop included artists like Kimbra (whose breakthrough came with Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know), Papa vs Pretty, The Jezabels, Stonefield and Ball Park Music - all of who found great success in 2011.

In previous years Next Crop handpicked Boy & Bear, Washington, Wolfmother, The Temper Trap, British India, Little Red and Angus & Julia Stone as ones to watch - artists who now enjoy huge creative and commercial success.

So get your headphones on and get listening to these best new Aussie acts:

Alpine, Bleeding Knees Club, Elizabeth Rose, Ellesquire, Emma Louise, Gold Fields, Husky, Loon Lake, The Medics, New Navy, Oliver Tank, Owl Eyes, Redcoats, The Rubens, San Cisco, Sietta, Snakadaktal, Split Seconds, Strange Talk and YesYou.

One artist already raking success is young Emma Louise whose humble beginnings were posting videos on YouTube.

She conquered 2011 with one of the biggest Australian songs of the year, called Jungle, and scored a number of Queensland Music Awards.

In between her constant bouts of touring, Emma Louise has been working on her second EP with Mark Myers of The Middle East, set for release later this year.
