Music to our ears
AFTER all the Gold Rush activities happening this week, why not relax on Sunday at Memorial Park and listen to some local bands, for free.
The Bands in the Rotunda series is back to its regular schedule this month after the longer session last month with the Peace Picnic in the Park.
Starting at noon, members of the Cooloola Community Orchestra will entertain with an all-acoustic woodwind set, consisting of two smaller ensembles.
The clarinet ensemble will be playing light classical and traditional tunes, while the saxophone duet will be doing more jazz numbers.
Jazz seems to be the flavour of the day, as the following band Kajam will also be playing easy listening jazz.
Kajam is made up of Aiden Patrick on trumpet, Karen Mayfield on drums, Quentin Chen on keyboards and Aiden Hogg on bass guitar.
This young band has been playing in this arrangement for almost 18 months, although they all play in other bands covering a wide range of styles.
Sounds like a good reason to put this Sunday aside and bring your family and friends down to Memorial Park for an afternoon of free community entertainment from noon-1.45pm.
Grab your lunch, blanket or chair and friends and head for historical Memorial Park, weather permitting.
This is one of many events that the Cooloola Community Arts Council brings to the Gympie Region in partnership with the Gympie Regional Council Heritage Committee.
