Woman hit by car on Nicklin Way

Mum hit by car while pushing pram across busy road

A MOTHER was hit by a car while pushing her baby boy in a pram across Nicklin Way.

Luckily for the 18-month-old boy the woman was able to push the pram to a centre island before taking the impact herself.

She was struck about 80m from a designated crossing at the intersection of Palkana Dr about 6.30pm Wednesday.

Sunshine Coast police district duty officer Senior Sergeant Scott Wiggins said the boy suffered only a minor injury to his head when he fell from the pram.

The woman's injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The female driver of the car was checked over by a paramedic before going with police to be interviewed.

"It makes no sense that a pedestrian would cross in this location of the road at such a peak time of heavy traffic," Snr Sgt Wiggins said.

"We urge all pedestrians to use the designated crossings."
