Multiple car crash slows traffic on Pacific hwy

UPDATE SATURDAY AM: POLICE are investigating after four adults and two children were injured in a serious traffic crash at Loganholme this evening.

Initial information indicates that at around 5.30pm four vehicles collided during peak hour traffic congestion as they travelled northbound on the Pacific Motorway.

Two woman, aged 47 and 51 suffered serious injuries and were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Two girls, aged 8 and 10 also suffered serious head and facial injuries and were transported to the Lady Cilento Hospital.

A 22-year-old man and 23-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

Three northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway were closed for several hours, causing major traffic delays.

The Motorway was re-opened shortly after 9.40pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

UPDATE: THE M1 northbound is down to one lane at the Logan River Bridge after a multiple vehicle smash this evening.

Police say the crash happened at around 6pm on the Pacific highway at Loganholme.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. 

EARLIER: A FLEET of ambulances were on the scene of a major crash on the Pacific highway near Logan.

Traffic was delayed for more than 30 minutes as paramedics attended to the injured in the wet.

Cars were forced to merge across multiple lanes into one lane past the crash scene.

It appeared a number of cars spun out of control in the water while trying to exit the highway.

Police have urged motorists to slow down in the rain and drive to the conditions.
