Moylan stars as Panthers tear Tigers apart
RUGBY LEAGUE: Penrith have run rampant at Campbelltown Stadium against the Wests Tigers to record an impressive 36-2 win.
The Panthers were disappointing in round one against St George Illawarra but bounced back to keep the toothless Tigers tryless in front of 12,232 fans.
Playing off the back of a fired-up forward pack, fullback Matt Moylan was on fire, as were Te Maire Martin, Tyrone Peachey and Nathan Cleary.
As for the Tigers, coach Jason Taylor will no doubt be hugely disappointed with his side who were poor defensively while playmakers Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses failed to provide direction in attack.
The Tigers held their own for the opening quarter of the game and trailed by just 2-0 when they opted to shoot for goal from 40 metres out after receiving a penalty in the 29th minute.
That decision seemed to spark a collapse with Penrith maintaining possession for the next seven sets and scoring three tries.
Moylan was among the stars for the Panthers while Wests Tigers custodian James Tedesco was uncharacteristically quiet.
"He was outstanding all day, his combination with Tyrone Peachey was terrific," Michael Ennis told the Sunday Ticket of Moylan.
"If we look at all the key moments in the game, and we spoke about his effort in a beaten side last week, today with a bit of momentum through his forward pack they really stood up and carried the game.
"When the opportunities came to put points on, Moylan came up with the right play every time. He was involved in so many tries. He was absolute class."
