Roads nearly clear after traffic chaos from six-car pile up
UPDATE 1:53PM: A six-car pileup at the intersection of James and Hume Sts caused traffic chaos in the CBD today.
A long line up of traffic was backed up on James St following the crash.
Authorities are expecting the last of the wreckage to be cleared in the next hour.
Acting Sergeant Shannon Meibusch from Toowoomba Police said there were now minimal delays.
He described the incident as a "very serious" crash.
UPDATE 12.30PM: Paramedics have taken three people to hospital and treated another three at the scene of a six-car crash in Toowoomba's CBD.
Queensland Ambulance Service Toowoomba senior operations supervisor Peter Crooks said the patients had escaped with relatively minor injuries.
"However, one did present with some changes in his vital signs which was a bit of a concern.
"At this stage it doesn't appear to be too bad but you never know."
Considering the damage, Mr Crooks thought there would have been more significant injuries.
"However, people have got out of it relatively unscathed at this stage."
Traffic was diverted around the scene while tow truck cleared the damaged vehicles.
EARLIER: Multiple motorists have been injured in a crash involving six vehicles in the Toowoomba city.
The crash occurred about 11.15am at the intersection of James and Hume Sts.
Four people are currently being transported to hospital by ambulance.
Emergency services are requesting that motorists avoid the area.

There are reports one of the motorists involved is trapped in the crash wreckage.
