Motorcyclist dies after collision on memorial bridge

A 48-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist has been killed after the bike he was riding collided with the rear of a ute north of Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 5pm when the motorcycle was travelling south on the Houghton Highway on the Ted Smout Memorial Bridge.

The rider of the motorcycle, a Kippa-ring man, died at the scene.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit investigators would like to speak to the driver of a grey BMW sedan, Queensland registration 661WWN, who was seen driving with the motorcyclist prior to the crash.

Police are also appealing for anyone who travelled on Elizabeth Avenue Clontarf or the Houghton Highway between 5 and 5.15pm and have relevant dashcam vision to contact Policelink on 131444
