Rain interrupts Trinidad Test

MOTHER Nature appears to have stumped any chance of an Australian victory after a rain-interrupted day four of the second Test against the West Indies at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

Only 30.4 overs were bowled on the day due to heavy rain.

When the sun was out, it took Australia just four balls to end the West Indies innings when Michael Beer (2-56) picked up the final wicket to dismiss the hosts for 257 and give Australia an overall lead of 54.

In reply, Australia was 3-73 with Ricky Ponting (32 not out) and Michael Clarke (3 not out) at the crease when rain stopped play.

Ed Cowan (20), David Warner (17) and Shane Watson (0) were the batsman already back in the pavilion.
