$99,245 will help people in need
GYMPIE-based Community Action Inc will receive $99,245 in Federal Government funding to assist people in need.
Cooloola Community Action was formed last year in a collaborative merger between Community Action Housing Service, Community Action Youth Service and Erin House.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said the funding was provided under the Financial Management Program to assist community organisations to extend emergency relief to struggling families and pensioners.
Mr Truss said the funding was used to provide food, clothing, transport and assistance with accommodation and also be used to help people learn how to budget and deliver financial counselling.
"Costs of living have spiralled out of control lately and pensioners, the unemployed and people on low and fixed incomes are suffering from financial stress and find it increasingly difficult to make ends meet," he said.
"Emergency relief assistance is vital to ensure struggling households have access to the basic necessities to help them through difficult times."
