THE biggest Warbirds model flyers weekend raised nearly $6000 for the Tin Can Bay Model Aero Club.
Every Labour Day weekend Southern Cross Airforce Association aero enthusiasts from clubs around Australia bring their planes to the Bay for a weekend of flying fun.
Model aero club publicity officer Neil Low said this year was one of the biggest.
"Last year was the biggest with 95 planes, this year was bigger with 103. They are worth anything up to $40,000," Mr Low said.
The Sunshine Coast's Chris Venter once again brought a $40,000 A10 Warthog to delight the large mass of spectators.
"We had 61 pilots, by far the most we've ever had.
"It was a good show.
"There were five planes in the air most of the time," Mr Low said.
"Conditions were beautiful. Friday we had about 10-15mm rain, that made the camping area muddy, but Saturday and Sunday conditions were perfect, we still had 16 vans there this morning."
