'It just looked like any old trailer parked near a house'

A MOBILE hydroponic drug growing set-up run from a stolen truck trailer has been found hiding in plain sight.

Officers from the Sunshine Coast District Tactical Crime Squad acted on a public tip-off when they went to a property in Landsborough about 1pm Wednesday.

The trailer, about 20m long, was parked among trees but visible from the road.

Sergeant Wade Lee said officers noticed a bright orange power lead running from a nearby house into the trailer.

"It just looked like a semi parked on acreage in Landsborough," Sgt Lee said.

"It wasn't hidden by any means."

Checks of the trailer revealed it had been stolen from Toowoomba in October 2014.

Sgt Lee said a hydroponic growing room had been set up inside, complete with growing lights, exhaust fans, transformers and chemicals.

He said there were five plants, about 15cm tall, growing inside.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with drug offences and a property offence in regards to the stolen trailer.

The trailer has been taken to a police holding yard where it will be forensically examined before its contents are stripped and destroyed.

Sgt Lee said police intended to then return the trailer to where it was stolen from.

"It was in really good condition."
