Police launch murder investigation

A MAN and a woman are assisting Ipswich police with a murder investigation after a 33-year-old Booval woman went missing last week.

Speaking to The Queensland Times outside the woman's Dudleigh Street home, police said they hoped to make an arrest on Thursday.

The rented Queenslander was cordoned off with police tape on Wednesday afternoon.

At least six officers, including those from Ipswich’s Criminal Investigation Branch, were seen patrolling the footpath and walking in and out of the house.

Police yesterday withheld information relating to why they were focusing their investigations on the house, except to say they were treating the woman's disappearance as suspicious.

It was understood police held grave concerns for the woman’s life as early as yesterday morning.

Police said she was last seen on April 2, and a family member reported her missing on Tuesday.

She was described as being about 165cm tall with a heavy build and dark shaved hair.

Police said she had a tribal tattoo on her ankle and the word ‘Mum’ tattooed on her fingers.

Anyone with information that could assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
