Missing bush walker found

A MAN has been rescued after apparently spending a cold and difficult night stranded on the side of Pomona's Mount Cooroora.

An RACQ CareFlight helicopter rescue service spokesman said its Sunshine Coast-based chopper conducted a winch rescue of the man, 67, who was found stranded about two-thirds of the way up the mountain's rugged north face.

The spokesman said police called for helicopter assistance shortly before 11am yesterday.

"Due to steep, rocky terrain, a paramedic was lowered to the bushwalker, who was then winched back into the helicopter," he said.

An on-board medical crew assessed the man's condition, before transferring him to Nambour Hospital for further observation.

He was transported in a stable condition, the spokesman said.
