Middle school excellence program

THE 2010 Middle School Mathematics and Science Excellence Program will begin on October 21.

This program takes place at James Nash State High School in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Now in its fourth year, it is open to students in Years 6-9 from all schools in the Gympie region.

This year's course runs for three weeks and covers the disciplines of physics, chemistry and biology. After completing hands-on experiments, students will examine the mathematics that the scientific concepts.

The course provides an opportunity for talented and enthusiastic students to extend their interest in and appreciation of maths and science. After completing the course, the students will be invited to a graduation ceremony.

The excellence program runs from 4pm-5.30pm in the James Nash ICT hub every Thursday and costs $70.

Registration brochures have been sent to all schools and additional copies are available from the office at James Nash.

The graduation for the Creative Writing Excellence Program is at 4pm Wednesday, October 13.

Participating students will receive their certificates and anthologies.
