Mia Bella brings new sparkle

THE TOP end of Mary St has a fresh new look. Mia Bella Jewellery opened last month at 50 Mary St and is drawing shoppers in with its open counter layout, clean art deco look and sparkling display of contemporary and traditional jewellery.

Owners, Carissa and David Bell said they have had a great response from the public to their new store.

"The response has been really positive. We have had over 1000 people through and customers have said how inviting and light the shop is," Carissa said.

David has been a manufacturing jeweller for more than 30 years, with 22 years experience in Gympie, and Carissa is a former local business sales representative of eight years. They both have a passion for jewellery.

"We had feelings of how we'd like to do something innovative. We had a passion, and we wanted to turn our passion into an exciting new business," Carissa said.

With this combination, together with the store's design and a private consultation room, the couple aims to make the jewellery experience upfront and personal.

"It's about coming in and having fun with jewellery and enjoying it," she said.

Mia Bella Jewellery is one of the few jewellery stores in Gympie with an in-store jeweller, the essence of the work being remaking, remodelling and redesigning.

As a jeweller, David is excited to offer Passion8, a type of diamond that takes much longer to cut than regular diamonds as more rough weight is polished away. The industry considers it as "the perfect diamond". As exclusive stockists in Gympie of Passion8, David says "It is one of the best cut diamonds in the world. It has a conflict/blood free guarantee. The cut is excellent, the polish is excellent and the symmetry is excellent."

Carissa says Mia Bella Jewellery is hoping to make waves in the engagement and wedding market.

"We want to be Gympie's diamond destination. The place to come if you are looking for an engagement ring or that special piece," Carissa said.

Other brands Mia Bella Jewellery are exclusively stocking in Gympie are Thomas Sabo and Swaroski Crystal.

When designing their new business Carissa and David used all local suppliers for the shop fitting, decorating and security.

"We're a Gympie family business and we believe it's very important to support local," says Carissa.
