Gympie mayor wishes region a Merry Christmas

CHRISTMAS Day is just around the corner and I hope you had the chance to enjoy Mary Christmas in the Gympie Town Centre on Monday night.

Unfortunately for some members of our community, Christmas can exacerbate feelings of loneliness or dislocation.

If you are alone this Christmas day, or new to the region, I encourage you and your families to enjoy the Christmas Day Community Banquet hosted by the Victory Church, at the Gympie Civic Centre.

Bookings are essential by calling 0447 030 307.

If your rubbish collection is normally on a Friday, our crews will still be collecting this Friday, but starting at a much earlier time, 5am, so they can get home to their families to enjoy Christmas Day, so please put your bins out on Christmas Eve.

Council offices will be closed from tomorrow until January 4, 2016.

Any urgent issues can still be dealt with by our call centre on 1300307800.

Please stay safe on the road if you're travelling. I wish all our residents and visitors a happy and safe Christmas.

Gympie Mayor,
Mick Curan
