Men of League tipped for greatness

THE Gympie chapter of the Men of League will host its inaugural Golden Point Club meeting on Wednesday, March 14 at the Mary River Motor Inn.

Men of League president Ross Groundwater said tickets were limited to just 100 and urged league fans to get in early to secure a spot.

Former league greats Des Morris and Dan Tanner will be at the event and interviewed by Bob Leitch.

Morris is Queensland Rugby League chairman of selectors for State of Origin and an Australian selector.

Dan Tanner is Gympie born and bred and a former Queensland selector.

Also attending the night is former Queensland representative John Payne and former front rower Greg Veivers.

Veivers played for Queensland and captained Australia at Test level and is a keen member of the Men of League.

Gympie Men of League patron Reg Cannon said all these great names were coming to Gympie because it the Golden Point Club's first night.

He said league identities Bob Hagan, John Bourke, from the Sunshine Coast chapter, and many other high profile league identities will be at the night.

"It is a great start for Gympie Men of League. It will make people aware of what is going on," Cannon said.

The night will cost $20 and will include a Mary River steak burger and two refreshing beverages.

Tickets are available at Tyrepower and the Mary River Motor Inn.
