CEDAR Pocket local Mel Davis has spent the past 15 Musters working and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Mel volunteers to help community groups at the Muster every year.

While her children were at primary school, Mel helped Gympie East State School at the Muster.

Now she's part of Widgee Pony Club's Muster volunteer crew.

"It's just so much fun," she said.

"I don't think I'd probably come out here if I wasn't working.

"It's full on, but good."

While Musterers party up, Mel enjoys the event in a different way, saying her favourite part of the annual experience is spending time with good people.

"You meet lots of people," she said.

"You even meet people from Gympie you've never met before."

Muster financial controller Judy Arthur said thousands of volunteers helped make the Muster work each year.

"They've been working out there for weeks," she said.

Everything from bar management, to tent construction, to wheelie bin collection is taken care of by volunteers.

"It's really, really wonderful," Ms Arthur said of the community input which includes time from groups including service clubs, schools, P and C committees, Lions, Apex and Rotary clubs.
