McIntosh ready to get going

GYMPIE Offroad Gold XI captain Tim McIntosh wants his side to avoid a sluggish start to the season when lining up to play Glasshouse Mountains today.

The Gold begins the first instalment of a two day fixture at Albert Park and the outing will be the first of the season after two weeks of wet weather.

“On paper we didn’t have a good start last season but many of the games we lost were by close margins,” he said.

“The entire season could have ended up very differently for us had we been able to win those tight matches.”

The Gold skipper predicted a tough tussle against Glasshouse.

“We’ve had some close games with them in the past with mixed results,” he said.

Glasshouse is known for its sledging on the field but McIntosh said his boys were ready to trade jibes on the field.

“We can give it as good as we get it and after the match we have a beer together because what happens on the field stays on the field,” he said.

Today’s game starts at 10.30am with home support encouraged.
