Massive fig tree crashes while children play in yard
A MARYBOROUGH family is shaken after a massive fig tree, estimated to be more than 100 years old, came crashing down in their yard while children played on Wednesday afternoon.
Dinah Lindsey and her mother Georgina Debruyn were preparing dinner while three of Ms Lindsey's four children played outside on the trampoline and swings.

"One minute we could here them playing shoot 'ems with sticks and the next, the booming sound of the tree as it crashed," Ms Lindsey said.
"God was watching over my kids that moment and luckily my kids had moved to our John St driveway only seconds before it fell - it was so quick."

The children, all aged under seven, had the whole neighbourhood running to the corner of John and Queen Sts.
"Everyone came from everywhere because they all knew the children were out in the yard," Ms Debruyn said.
Ms Debruyn said they had spoken with council, SES and Ergon but most of their cherry pickers were in Yeppoon helping the aftermath of Cyclone Marcia.
Ms Lindsey said the owner had just recently had a quote on removal of the tree.
