Mary Valley takes the lead

MARY Valley residents plan to revive the Valley as a major agri-tourism region.

Valley Renewal Group member Glenda Pickersgill said almost 150 people attended a function at Imbil to make public the Valley’s self-produced leadership document, the Mary Valley Community and Economic Action Plan.

Fellow group member, Gympie region deputy mayor Tony Perrett, yesterday promised the plan would “feed in” to council planning for the whole region.

The plan identified agriculture as the land use favoured to lead the Valley forward, combined with a new “clean, green” Mary Valley brand and an emphasis on agri-tourism.

Ms Pickersgill said the framework was now there, but additional, specific ideas were still welcome.

The full plan can be downloaded from the Mary Valley Renewal website, www.maryvalleyrenewal.org.
