Karate club wins at championships

PLENTY of hard work and hours spent training is doing wonders for the Mary Valley Shotokan Karate Club.

The club has just returned from the Queensland Full Contact Karate Championships held in Wynnum.

In total, 16 competitors undertook the journey to compete and were able to achieve outstanding results against bigger rival clubs.

The list of winning results is exhaustive, covering both fighting and kata in the active division.

Overall, the karate club gained 15 first placings, 12 seconds and five thirds.

Club Sensei Steve Gorlick was extremely proud of the level of effort made by Mary Valley participants.

Aside from all the success, Gorlick was pleased with the conduct of the karate students, carrying themselves with pride, honour and distinction – all values the club cherishes.
