Mary Valley community backs Stags

MARY Valley Stags rugby league club treasurer Jenny Carlson is overwhelmed with the level of support shown to the club by the community.

After over 50 years of not having a rugby club of its own, the Mary Valley is banding together to celebrate and show its support when it can.

“The response has been overwhelming,” a humbled Carlson said.

A successful trial match earlier this year and participation in the Nines carnival in Maroochydore has given the new side a taste of playing together and Carlson isn't afraid to tip big things this year.

“Sometimes it can take a club a couple of seasons to build up, but I think there is a lot of promise,” she said.
