VIDEO: Surprise visitor to Maroons' Gold Coast training

QUEENSLAND has completed its first serious training session on the Gold Coast  under the watchful eye of new coach Kevin Walters with Maroons star Greg Inglis talking up his new left side combination with rookie winger Corey Oates.

Oates started the 90 minute session wearing a heart monitor after being treated for an irregular heartbeat last week.

But after some light-hearted ribbing from  team-mates he quickly discarded the device.

Inglis, who moves from fullback to left centre, said he'd  love to help young Oates score his first Origin try on debut in Sydney next Wednesday night..

Injured Storm fullback Billy Slater made a surprise appearance and even took part in some ball drills with the team at their Sanctuary Cove camp.

Champion five-eighth Johnathan Thurston took part in the ball work session but sat out the contact drills to protect a corked hip inflicted by his Queensland team-mate Josh Maguire in last weekend's NRL club clash between the Cowboys and Brisbane.
