A LOSS for Queensland in front of a home crowd tomorrow night in the first of the State of Origin series matches for this year is definitely on the cards - the tarot cards.

Sunshine Coast psychic, clairvoyant and medium Joanna Katherine has consulted the cards and the spirit world to look into the future for the crucial 100th game and the series outlook.

Ms Katherine, who admits she is a Queensland supporter, says the "first words" that came to her when seeking guidance was "controversy and complicated".

She believed the Maroons' decision to move the training camp from the Palmer Coolum Resort to the Gold Coast would have an impact on their success.

And "money" also was coming up as a potential problem.

This may have something to do with the controversy surrounding the cost of tickets for the opening Origin game, which has been slammed by legends including Wally Lewis.

There is also a dark cloud of uncertainty around Queensland's star player Johnathan Thurston.

"Johnathan Thurston keeps coming up in my head," she said.

"I worry about an injury for him in the first game."

Ultimately, though, the signs, or the stars, are good for Queensland.

"The first game will be controversial and the score may not reflect who should win," she said.

"I feel it should go to NSW, but Queensland will bring it forward for the next two and win the whole series."

This reading was later in doubt when a third look at the cards suggested NSW might win two games.

"The first readings are normally the most correct," she said.

"There is more energy around NSW for the first game, but with things like this, the future is always changing.

"That's why it is hard to predict."
