Court hears man stole keys then returned for car

GYMPIE man Alex Jack Summers was given a one month jail term, wholly suspended for six months, for unlawful use of a car he stole from a Hyne St home.

Gympie Magistrates Court heard he took the keys from the car.

Three nights later Summers returned, rolled the car down the driveway, started it up on the road and drove off. Summers pleaded guilty to the charge and three others.

He was placed on nine months probation for driving unlicensed and assaulting police at Hyne St on March 22, and was ordered to serve 40 hours community service for having a knife in public.
