Man sought over assault

GYMPIE police are looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a young woman on Hilton Road last Thursday night.

The woman, 18, was walking along Hilton Road at around 7.30pm when she was approached by two men.

One of the men touched her backside and grabbed her breast.

Police said the woman punched her assailant in the mouth and ran away, requiring treatment at Gympie Hospital for injuries to her hand.

The offender was described as about 175cm tall, clean shaven with a proportionate to solid build, wearing a red jumper and jeans.

He would have also had fat lip in the days following.

Police wish to speak with the other man, who is believed to have tried to stop the incident.

He was described as about 185cm tall with a skinny build, wearing a dark jumper and jeans.
