Man pushed by coworker into a woodchipper after 'thinking he was a paedo'
A MAN has been arrested after allegedly pushing his colleague headfirst into a wood chipper because he thought he was a paedo from the way he spoke.
Scott Edward Iverson was collared by cops last Friday after fleeing the scene of the incident last Wednesday.
The 26-year-old from Stayton, Oregon, allegedly approached his victim from behind and put him in a choke hold before forcing him onto the feeding table of the wood chipper.
Iverson's 22-year-old co-worker, Austin Crawford, told police he remembered thinking "I don't want to die this way".
He managed to fight off the initial assault before Iverson then tried to feed his leg into the machine before another worker intervened to stop him.
According to the Statesman Journal Iverson reportedly told the intervening colleague: "He's a paedophile, I can tell by the way he's talking."
However police report the victim has no history of sexual abuse or assault.
Crawford told KVAL he had no idea what prompted the attack saying: "Prior to this we got along great, you know we laughed, we joked, we talked."
Iverson has been charged with attempted murder and fourth degree assault.
