Man pleads guilty to impersonating doctor
A MAN has pleaded guilty to impersonating a doctor at a children's hospital.
Nicholas Brett Delaney appeared in the Brisbane Arrest Court this morning charged with three offences.
The court heard he stole a lanyard and pretended to be a doctor in Brisbane "for an extended period of time".
"This is hardly a trivial offence to be impersonating a doctor in a children's court," the magistrate said.
"You need to get legal advice".
He was unrepresented and it was his first appearance in court.
The court heard he had been acting as a doctor at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital and South Brisbane Ronald McDonald House since May.
Authorities were alerted earlier this month when staff saw him acting suspiciously.
Outside court, Delaney covered his face and ran from the media.
He declined to say why he pretended to be a doctor, but told The Courier-Mail he was scared of being on TV.
He will next appear in court on January 29 for sentencing.
