Man impaled by door in single-vehicle crash
A MAN was impaled by a door in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday night at Mutdapilly.
His four passengers, including a four-month-old infant, escaped injury.
About 9.30pm on Saturday a car, travelling south, aquaplaned in the wet on the Cunningham Hwy around Mutdapilly and crashed into a guard rail.
The driver was impaled by the door and had to be cut free by emergency services.
The man was rushed to the PA Hospital with serious injuries. The infant and one of the female passengers were taken to Ipswich Hospital for observation.
The southbound lanes were diverted onto the other side of the road until about 11pm.
