A MAN allegedly found asleep at the wheel stopped at a traffic light at 5.30am on Saturday has been charged with a high range drink driving offence.

Police said they were called to a vehicle stopped at a green light on Wickham Street at the intersection of Brunswick Street where the driver of the vehicle appeared to be asleep at the wheel.

It will be further alleged that police attended and located a man asleep in a stationary vehicle with the motor running.

A 37-year-old West End man has been charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor after he allegedly returned a breath alcohol concentration of 0.222 percent.
