Man and woman arrested after wedding brawl

A MAN and woman have been arrested after a reported brawl at an Airlie Beach venue.

Whitsunday police responded to calls for assistance regarding a brawl at the licensed venue at a wedding on Shute Harbour Rd on October 21 at 11.30pm.

On arrival they immediately observed a man allegedly in possession of metallic items in each hand and approaching another two people.

The man responded to police requests and dropped the metallic items, and allegedly attempted to leave the area on foot after being told he was under arrest.

The man allegedly struggled with officers and was not co-operative.

A 26-year-old Jubilee Pocket man and a 23-year-old Cranbrook woman have both been charged with a public nuisance offence and obstructing police in the performance of their duties.

They will appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 14 to have the charges heard.
