Man airlifted with serious foot injury after crash

A 44-year-old Agnes Waters man was airlifted from the Bruce Hwy after the car he was driving hit a tree.

The highway was closed for about 45 minutes in Koumala for RACQ CQ Rescue to land and evacuate the driver with a serious foot injury.

According to a Sarina Police spokesman, the utility was travelling south about 7.30am when it left the road and hit a tree.

"We are talking to witnesses of the accident, and police are still investigating a cause," the spokesman said.

"The man was trapped for a short period."

The man was transported to Mackay Hospital about 9am.

He is in a stable condition.
