Man, 92, cut from car in Hervey Bay crash

A HERVEY Bay woman is urging motorists to increase their caution after a 92-year-old man was cut from a wreckage outside her home.

Krystal Mayhew lives close to the busy Boat Harbour Dr and Queens Rd intersection where two vehicles collided on Saturday afternoon.

After hearing tyres screeching and glass shattering, Ms Mayhew said she called 000 straight away.

She said there were about nine people trying to help the trapped man out.

"You see near-misses every day," she said. "You don't know whether to have 000 on speed dial."

She said traffic lights may be needed to avoid more tragedy.

The accident is under police investigation.
