RACQ CQ Rescue stood down after man was found in Nebo

UPDATE: A RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said after a hasty departure to participate in a search for a vehicle swept off Fitzroy Development Road into May Downs Creek near Middlemount, RACQ CQ Rescue has returned to base after being stood down.

Concerns for the person who may have been in the car at the time it was swept off the road have been relieved, after he was found in Nebo.

EARLIER: CREWS have been called to salvage a submerged vehicle from May Downs Creek downstream of the bridge crossing on Fitzroy Development Rd, just north of Middlemount.

A police spokesman said it was unclear at this stage if anyone was in the vehicle, although they had received no reports of missing persons, but the incident was still being treated as serious.

He said the incident was reported to the police around 10.30am when mine workers noticed the top of the vehicle.
