Ludwig says region needs to work together for Qld plan

THE launch of the Queensland Government's long-awaited Queensland Plan has once again highlighted the importance of Rockhampton and Livingstone adopting a collaborative partnership approach to regional economic development.

Livingstone Mayor Bill Ludwig, who attended Thursday's launch at the LGAQ Regional and Economic Development Conference in Hervey Bay, said the State Government had made it clear it would be putting funding and resources into regions that could demonstrate strong partnerships between councils and the private sector.

"The Premier also singled out the Capricorn Enterprise team in his speech for their collective work in preparing both the Rockhampton and Livingstone submissions to the Queensland Plan," Cr Ludwig said.

"Long-term a united approach from our two Councils with business and industry sectors will ensure there is no duplication of effort and that we get the maximum bang for our collective economic development efforts going forward.

"The clear example of successful outcomes is the almost $17 million Livingstone has received for major economic development related projects in just seven months.

"This exceptional success was only possible because of our ability to demonstrate strong regional support through our partnership with Capricorn Enterprise."
