Motocross rider injured in race

A MOTOCROSS rider was on the last lap of his final race at Green Park motocross complex near Conondale on Sunday afternoon when he was seriously injured during a jump.

The 33-year-old Landsborough man had been competing in motorcycle events throughout the day when he went over the handle bars and landed awkwardly on the grass track.

He suffered suspected multiple fractures to his lower limbs and suspected spinal injuries and was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter.

Flight paramedic Mick Webster worked with local ambulance crews to stabilise the man and prepare him for the flight to Royal Brisbane Hospital.

“He was in good spirits as we loaded him into the helicopter and I must say he handled the flight well,” Mr Webster said.

The man remains in a stable condition in Royal Brisbane Hospital.
