Losing drought over for Vince

THE winner of last Wednesday’s B Grade Single Stableford says he can’t remember his last win but is delighted with the blazing return to form.

Vince Andrews took out the event after carding an impressive 42 points which was 4 points clear of runner up Allen Cassells.

“This win has been a long time coming and I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have finally broken the drought,” he said.

“I played really consistently today, particularly the front nine where I had 23 points.”

Brian Carroll carded a creditable 39 points to win A Division on a countback from the unlucky Barry Allen.

Ball rundown to 33 points: Allen Cassells, Nev Haack, Tom Siddins, Greg Gooding, Steve Gissel, Lester Pettit, Brian Taylor, Ken Dickfos, Keith Stewart, Larry Parshall, Bill Swan, John McLaren, George Tomkins.

Hole 16 accuracy shot:

Don Griggs, Don Cappetti, Bill McNaught, George Tompkins, Doug Sutton, John Ireland, Ray Rigbye, Jeff Mason.

Next Monday, Gympie Veterans travel to Club Pelican with the bus leaving at 7am.

With plenty of talent in local golfing stocks, Club Pelican players will need to be in form.

This win has been a long time coming and I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have finally broken the drought.
