Locky backs Corey
AS THE battle continues for Darren Lockyer's Brisbane number six jersey, the man himself reckons Corey Norman is the most likely option.
While visiting Mackay for the opening of Porters' Northern Beaches store on Saturday, Lockyer predicted 21-year-old Norman would be the one to replace him, although Broncos coach Anthony Griffin has yet to make a final decision.
"(Norman) has been training really well," Lockyer said.
Norman and Ben Hunt have been vying for the spot ahead of round one of the NRL in March.
The former Australian, Queensland and Broncos captain said he wasn't missing playing too much yet as he was enjoying time with family and friends.
"I've slotted into my new lifestyle," Lockyer said.
He expects Melbourne to be the main contender for the NRL title this year, but he's got an eye on South Sydney, who he believes will be a big improver.
But he also reckons the Broncos have a chance.
"Obviously I'd love to see the Broncos get up," he said.
One thing he's more confident about is Queensland winning this year's State of Origin - but there is a catch.
He said the first match in Melbourne would be vital for Queensland to win if it was to take out another series.
