Local riders perform at Woolooga
THE Gympie Motorcycle Club played host to the first round of the Yamaha Sprint X at Woolooga at the weekend, with an array of local riders performing well on the day.
One of the stand-outs was 14-year-old, Saint Patrick’s College student, Peter-Daniel Allan who rode brilliantly in perfect conditions.
Allan, riding a Yamaha YZ250F in the largest class of the day, the Junior 200-250, finished first.
The race was a perfect start to series for the young rider who is also competing in the Australian and Queensland Enduro Series.
In the first two rounds of the Australian series in New South Wales Allan finished third. While in the first round of the Queensland Series at Tamborine Mountain he finished first.
Allan is now setting his sights on round three and four of the Australian series held in Victoria at the end of the month.
Other Gympie winners were Kasey Winston, Rory Green, Jemma Wilson, Jack Reibelt and Ben Korn.
The Sprint X was held on two timed tracks at Woolooga.
One was rocky and technical while the second was a fast and flowing course.
Gympie Motorcycle Club spokeswoman, Armanda Allan said the day went really well and the club showed how a professional enduro event can be held.
“The Gympie club got a lot of praise from the motorcycle Queensland officials about how well we ran the event,” she said.
“A special thanks must go to Jacki Beatie who was the clerk of the course.
“She was definitely the go-to girl on the day.”
