Family flavour bursts with goodness
LITTLE Ava Chambers is starting out early in the fruit and veg business, just like her mum Mini Grosse.
Mini's earliest memories are of helping her parents in their fruit and veg store at Tewantin. The family ran one of the first produce stalls at Eumundi Markets, a second store in Noosa Junction and opened the big fruit and veg barn on Eumundi Noosa Rd.
Mini's brother Rene took over the family business and relocated to Cooroy, where he operates the sister store to Farm Fresh Gympie.
While fruit and vegetables are in Mini's blood, her partner Sean Chambers is the numbers man. He's been in sales and marketing for 20 years and knows a good opportunity when he sees one.
The relationship between the two Farm Fresh stores increased their buying power, which meant savings could be passed on to the customer.
A recent expansion into the transport industry with the major purchase of a truck provides Farm Fresh Gympie with the ability to transport tonnes of produce from suppliers around the region and state to both stores at a fraction of the cost.
Mini sources locally grown produce whenever she can and takes pride in offering quality fruit and vegetables at a good price. The store on the corner of Crescent Rd and Apollonian Vale is bursting with goodness and life. Ava munches on a bean and keeps an eye on the shop while her older siblings are at school.
She's lucky mum has the flexibility to juggle family and work, which includes wholesaling fruit and vegetables to various businesses such as restaurants and hotels. The expansion into transport also means owner-driver Sean is less available to help run the store.
Farm Fresh Gympie is open seven days. Phone Mini on 0409 479 332 for wholesale inquiries and Sean on 0488 197 979 for the truck.
