Litter no problem to this critter

RUBBISH that gets caught in fences around the Gympie region's waste management facilities will disappear from the landscape thanks to a big vacuum cleaner.

Called the Litter Critter, it sits mounted on a 6m x 4m trailer and is transportable.

It "can be taken from one facility to another", deputy mayor Tony Perrett said.

"It could be used in parks and gardens but at this stage its primary use is at waste management facilities."

The critter sucked up the rubbish and when it was full, it was emptied into the tip face.

Council bought the new equipment for about $30,000 including the trailer and all the "bits and pieces" needed to run it and has been using it for about two months now.
