Community groups to link up online

A NEW component within the Gympie Regional Council’s website is set to link community groups and residents and give them the latest information about what’s happening within those groups.

“The launch of the community directory was very, very successful,” Deputy Mayor Tony Perrett said yesterday.

“Primarily it’s there to give community groups the opportunity to put their details and data online.

“The greater the awareness of the website, the more useful this directory is going to be in the long run.

“It’s a really exciting step and it’s no cost. We’re doing this through council resources.”

To access the information, visit www.gympie.qld.gov.au, click on community services on the left hand side, then click on my community directory and then click on the category that interests you.

Cr Perrett said he found it “very, very easy” to navigate the site.

“Community groups can get their own login and password that will enable them to update information.”

Anyone wanting to find out more about the new and innovative service can phone 5481 0744.
