Light plane crashes with two people on board

UPDATE: 3:00pm

The two elderly male passengers had already removed themselves from the cockpit and were unharmed when the Queensland Ambulance Service arrived on scene.

"Just before 2pm this afternoon at the Caboolture Airfield, a light plane has crashed," QAS spokesman Brad Hardy said.

"On take off we believe there has been an engine failure of some description and the plane has lost control.

"(There's) significant damage to the plane, however the two occupants have self-extricated from the aircraft and have been assessed on scene by QAS. They remain on scene at this time.

The pilot and owner of the plane was onboard.

EARLIER:

A light plane with two people on board has crashed at the Caboolture Airfield with emergency services arriving at the scene.

The incident was reported about 2.05pm.

Early reports indicate those on board haven't been injured as police wait for more information.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics were assessing two patients at the airfield.
