BUNDABERG surf lifesavers have shown they can knock out the best, winning $15,000 for their charity after emerging victorious in the revamped It's a Knockout TV show.

And they're not the only ones gracing the small screen - local teen string quartet Quatro is also due to feature on the next episode of Young Talent Time this Sunday.

The new episodes of It's a Knockout saw 15 Queensland lifesavers compete in the show, including Moore Park Beach surf lifesaver Julie Davis, Elliott Heads surf lifesaver Ryan Bennett and former Bundaberg surf lifesaver Riley McGregor.

While they filmed the show several months ago, Mrs Davis said the result of their hard work was only revealed to the public on Friday.

"We flew to Kuala Lumpur to do the filming," she said.

"We were there for a week and we filmed two programs a night."

The team of lifesavers beat a group of paramedics from New South Wales in different events.

"We had to do an audition first, where they tested our physical abilities with things like star jumps and push-ups," Mrs Davis said.

"The audition was actually harder than the show."

Mrs Davis said the show turned the team nocturnal, with all filming done at night due to the hot weather and lighting needs.

"It was a lot of fun," she said.

"We were told we could tell our immediate family if we had won or not, but we made a pact on the plane not to tell."

Mr Bennett said the effort was well worth it.

"We won $15,000 for Surf Life Saving Queensland to make Queensland beaches safer," he said.

Mr Bennett said there was no time to practise or strategise about the events.

"They give you a quick look at how it all works and then they throw you straight in," he said.

"It was good fun."

The lifesavers and Quatro join a number of other local people to make TV appearances recently, including the Jackson family from Bargara, who featured on Wife Swap Australia on Monday.
